Dreams

Dreaming occurs during REM sleep. We have 3 to 5 periods of REM sleep that can last 5 minutes or up to an hour. We spend approximately 2 hours dreaming each night.4 Scientists do not know much about how or why we dream. However, Sigmund Freud believed dreaming was a "safety valve" for unconscious desires.
